Description
Current Lot An important set of four George III Royal silver-gilt coasters Paul Storr, London 1814-15 each of circular form, tied reeded rim above a well-cast band of the young Dionysus holding his thyrus, surmounted by a pine cone, with recumbent lionesses under vine leaves and bunches of grapes, lower acanthus leaf border, stamped to foot rim 'Rundell Bridge et Rundell Aurefices Regis et Londini', the interior with silver-gilt base and engraved with a full Royal coat of arms and motto, in a modern fitted case (4) 13cm diameter, 8cm high/rHeraldry: Engraved with the full achievement of the Royal Arms of George III. A similar set of twelve stands in Wellington Museum, Apsley House London. Eight formed as part of the silver-gilt dessert service made by Storr for Edward Lascelles, Earl of Harewood.
