The sextant itself is quite detailed, rack and pinon motion adjustment with four glass filter lenses , and large swing arm, reflective mirrors, and does not come with a box.  If you need a box please email me for price and extra shipping cost, be sure to include postal code for shipping. This is one of the favorites for those wanting simple to use, rack and pinon adjustment .  The size ( 7 inch ) makes it not small and not large, nice size for storage, yet large enough for better accuracy. The 7 in is the pivot to dial measurement, we list both sizes so you know what you are buying. The arm features a magnifying lens ( with height adjustment for any eye difference).   The full 120 degree arc is inset with white metal to contrast with the brass, and features individual degree demarcations. Imagine sailing ship captains in the early 1900s using an instrument like this. This heavy brass sextant also features a solid construction and weighs almost 2 lbs. Crafted in the style of a century ago, this sextant has a wood handle, as well as brass stand legs for upright easy display. The reason this is very important is if you see a size listed as 6in for example and no other measurements, most likely it is a 5in sextant with a 6in measurement across the frame.
