Sextant With Hardwood Box. This item is a NEW ROSS LONDON™ brass intricate nautical sextant reproduction with hardwood box. This is one of the most popular designs. This is for the person wanting a sextant that is not small or large, right in the middle, and box is included.  The sextant itself is quite detailed, Micrometer adjustment with four glass filter lenses , and large swing arm, reflective mirrors, and has nice box. We give both arm or arc measurment and physical size, many only give you the largest number which is NOT how sextants are measured, also sextants are not measured by the length of the arm, they are measured by pivot to dial or length of arc. The arm features a magnifying lens and a highly accurate slow motion adjuster. The micrometer intricate device allows you to advance the swing arm by a fine adjustments or loosen the screw and use fast motion. The full 120 degree arc is inset with white metal to contrast with the brass, and features individual degree demarcations. Imagine sailing ship captains in the early 1900s using an instrument like this. This heavy brass sextant also features a solid construction and weighs 2 lb. Crafted in the style of a century ago, this sextant has a nicely polished and finished wood handle, as well as brass stand legs for upright easy display. Many sextants are sold by the physical size of the sextant, which causes you to actually get one size smaller sextant than you thought you were buying, we list both measurements, sextant size and physical measurements. Sextants  are measured from pivot of arm to dial or by the size of the arc. The reason this is very important is if you see a size listed as 6in for example and no other measurements, most likely it is a 5in sextant with a 6in measurement across the frame.
