This jar depicts a human head which represents Imsety. He guards the liver and his cardinal point is south. Imsety is linked with Isis. Circa: First Intermediate Period, 2181-2055 BC There are two rows of hieroglyphics that are very clear. This jar has damage to the body and head. It was restored in the 1950's. There are two areas which are pictured where the restoration was made. Back in the 50's restoration wasn't as good as it is today. This jar has been in the U.S. since the 1940's and belonged to a collector that has recently pasted away. I acquired this jar from his daughter. There is no provence nor are there any papers for it. This is a fine piece of history. Measures: 11 3/4" Payment is due within 5 days, after 5 days items will be relisted.
