Description
Antique 1880's SHOW GLOBE - Drugstore/Apothecary Display Jar Heavy "Standing" Show Globe - Blown Glass Extremely rare and fabulous piece, 1880's Drugstore Standing Show Globe in mint condition.  Shown in Minnesota Drugstore Museum...see website reference & photos below.  In the late 19th century and beyond, this beautiful Standing Show Globe would have been filled with a colored concoction and proudly displayed in the old time Drugstore window.  Back in the 1800's, these early bottles had to be imported and were quite costly for the Druggist to acquire.  I cannot emphasize enough how truly hard to find this Globe is, not to mention it's pristine condition!  The measurements are 14.5" Tall, 17.25" circumference and 4.25" base diameter.  The weight of Globe is 3.2 pounds-unboxed.  Stopper w/inverted teardrop and Bottle, are both expertly hand blown. Ground & beautifully polished Pontil. Wear marks evident on base confirming age (see clickables for detailed images).  This gorgeous Globe has been handled with kid gloves for over 100 years and has NO chips, cracks or any signs of damage.  Heavy hand blown glass is thick, clear and crystal bright with only a few very small bubbles. A rare & very hard to find treasure!  "Reasonable offers considered...Please Scroll down for Reference info & photos!"  *FREE USA Shipping UPS or Priority Mail - Insurance required - Double Boxed! ...many Photos provided for viewing & Buying confidence...Enjoy!       www.drugstoremuseum.com *Drugstore Museum Show GlobesIn the past, apothecary Show Globes were the symbol for pharmacy much like the barber pole was for the barber. From the early 1880's until the 1950's most pharmacies would hang or display a show globe to identify their drugstore.Inside the show globe the pharmacist would add colored water by mixing chemicals together to give the globe great beauty. Back then, every pharmacist had his own special coloration formula to color the water inside the show globe. They took great pride in creating and showing off their ability to mix the perfect color. www.drugstoremuseum.com  Drugstore Museum - Soderlund Village Drug/Minnesota Clickable Images of Drugstore Museum Globes!                                Hand blown standing SHOW GLOBE circa 1880's                              Assorted Drugstore Show Globes                                            "...jumbo egg"                       CLICKABLE IMAGES                          1880's MUSEUM SHOW GLOBE ...thanks for looking!
