Caldwell in an exuberant Rococo Revival design. This large and circular bowl stands on an elaborate circular, openwork of scrolls, flowers, and latticework. The sides of the bowl are engraved with conforming decoration in a large-scale design that is beautiful textured, and it is finished with a conforming openwork scalloped rim. The bowl has a removable fitted insert with circular pulls and a fitted wirework frog for arranging flowers in the bowl. Ten cups that feature the same flaring circular base with openwork scrolls, flowers and lattice have conforming engraved decoration on the bowls with a delicate C-scroll handle and gold wash interiors. A set of four candlesticks with conforming bases and elegant baluster stems with conforming engraved decoration and removable circular wax pan with lovely openwork scroll rim. Each piece is beautifully crafted and has been boldly decorated in the exuberant and romantic style of the Victorian era. Each piece is in excellent condition with a rich, original patina. The bowl measures approx. 8 high and approx. 15 1/2 in diameter, each candlestick measures approx. 10 high with bases approx. 5 in diameter, and each cup measures approx. 2 high and approx. 3 in diameter. Each piece is marked under the base with the maker s marks of J.E. Caldwell, and the word sterling, the bowl is pattern number C110, the candlesticks are pattern number 600S, and each cup is pattern D5. This remarkably complete set would be a beautiful and versatile addition to any collection.
