Starr in an exuberant Rococo Revival design. This large, circular bowl has a deep, undecorated interior with a wide, wavy sculptural border. The openwork border is comprised of scrolls, leaves, and flowers with a lattice design at intervals. The decoration is boldly executed and dynamic. The interior has been beautifully engraved with the initials GC. This centerpiece bowl has its original silver-plated insert that allows this bowl to be used for flowers without damaging the silver. This bowl is in excellent condition and has been finely decorated. It measures approx. 4 1/2 high and approx. 17 in diameter, and weighs approx. 84 troy ounces. It is marked under the base with the maker s mark of Theodore B. Starr, the word Sterling, and pattern number 45S. This beautiful and decorative bowl would make a stunning addition to any table.
