Maker's mark of John Sayre, worked Southampton N.Y. & New York N.Y. circa 1790 Comprising teapot, covered sugar bowl, and cream jug; the rims bright-cut engraved with bands of swagging & ribbons, the side engraved with crossed fronds enclosing on one side the monogram TAW, the teapot with wood handle, high-domed hinged cover with urn-form finials, marked under base of teapot and rim of foot on sugar and creamer. The teapot 12 in. long over handle, 7.5" tall; gross weight 40 troy oz. Condition is very good with a reglued old break on handle and tiny stress crack at junction of handle on cream pot.
