The round movement is 3-5/8” diameter, but requires about 4” space because the gears and levers extend a little beyond the plates. Including the bell it is 1-7/8” deep. The bell has a clear Ping-Ping sound and can be removed to fit the Seth Thomas and Boston clocks which have their own spiral-wound gong. The winding arbors are 3mm square and almost 2” (50mm) center to center. If you have a Ships Bell Clock with this size movement in need of repair why pay $$$ for an overhaul if you can replace the inner works with an upgraded more accurate 11-jewel movement? In addition this platform escapement has no plastic parts (as in later production) that may dissolve when exposed to a cleaning solution. This movement is unused and I just unpacked it, inspected it, oiled it and ran it for more than 10 days. Then I checked it with my VIBROGRAPH Tester for Amplitude and beat. (By the way, if interested I can put this sophisticated machine on ebay, too.) It is in perfect working order. It comes with a bell but no hands and no key. It is the perfect movement for the Mason&Sullivan Dial I have on my other auction. It is about 25 years old and there is no warranty on it.
